Baku – Foreign Minister of Ukraine Kostiantyn Hryschenko described statements of a number of European politicians about their intention to boycott the Euro 2012 European Football Championship matches hosted by Ukraine as inappropriate.

"It’s inappropriate to mix politics and sports. So, we think that decision of foreign politicians to attend Euro 2012 matches will be dictated, first of all, by their wish to join the European football holiday and support their teams together with millions of other fans," Hryschenko said in an interview.

The minister stressed that Ukraine has done everything possible to host Euro 2012 on the top level.

"We’ve done everything to make Euro 2012 an unforgettable football holiday and I strongly believe that this important for Ukraine, Poland and the whole Europe event will be successful," he said.

The minister also noted that his country is absolutely ready to host foreign guests.

"While preparing for Euro 2012, Ukrainians carried out a really good deal of work. We are ready to host foreign guests and we will be happy to welcome everyone, including an ordinary fan and a head of state," Hryschenko said.
