You're reading: Hryvnia on Ukraine’s interbank forex market hits new record lows

The forex rate of the Ukrainian hryvnia on the interbank forex market on Monday slid to Hr 15.7500 from Hr 15.4000 per U.S. dollar on the previous working day on Nov. 10, having hit new record lows.

Forex market operators reported that market quotations were between Hr 15.5000 and Hr 16.0000 per U.S. dollar at the end of Nov. 10 trading.

Dealers said that trading volumes were limited on Nov. 10: deals were struck not on all supplied bids.

On Friday the National Bank of Ukraine sold $5 million at an auction and the average weighed forex rate at the auction was Hr 15.2242 per U.S. dollar.

The NBU reported that the average weighed forex rate on Monday as of 16.30 Kyiv time was Hr 15.0664 per U.S. dollar, where as it was Hr 14.4300 on Nov. 7.

The volume of the forex market by that time stood at $106.44 million, whereas it was $170.09 million on Friday.

Since the beginning of year, the forex rate of the hryvnia against the U.S. dollar on the interbank has declined by 47.4 percent from Hr 8.2850 2014.
