You're reading: Hyundai to eliminate all defects of its high-speed trains in Ukraine within 2-3 weeks

Hyundai Corporation has detected all the faults of Hyundai Rotem trains that do not let them operate properly in Ukraine, the Ukrainian Infrastructure Ministry's press service said with reference to a letter sent by the corporation to the Ukrainian Rail Transport Administration, Ukrzaliznytsia, and the Ukrainian High-Speed Railway Company.

According to the letter, the corporation has developed a number of measures to eliminate the defects and is now implementing them.

“According to our estimates, their complete elimination will take two or three weeks,” the press service quoted the letter as reading.

Hyundai Corporation says that the defects are the result of several flaws committed during the design and manufacture of the trains and a limited trial period connected with the need to ensure timely transportation of passengers by rail during the Euro 2012 European Football Championship.

“Moreover, we’d like to offer additional training programs for locomotive engineers to the Ukrainian High-Speed Railway Company in order to prevent serious failures in case of emergencies during operation,” reads the letter.

Hyundai Corporation assured that it would take into account the experience of the first year of its trains’ operation in Ukraine.

As was reported, last week Hyundai Corporation offered its apologies to Ukrainian passengers for discomfort during the use of South Korean high-speed trains and announced measures to eliminate the malfunctions.

Ukrzaliznytsia on December 26, 2012, denied mass media reports about the cancellation of high-speed Intercity+ Hyundai Rotem trains during the New Year holiday season.
