Illegal armed units had been firing upon government forces' positions at the Donetsk airport on Friday, and cases shelling on residential areas were registered, the press center of the counterterrorist operation (ATO) has reported.

‘They fired mortars and firearms, and snipers worked near the site. Residential neighborhoods in Hranitne were fired upon with mortars,’ the press center said on Facebook on Saturday morning.

Militants also repeatedly opened fire upon government forces’ positions near the villages of Chornukhyne, Orlovo-Ivanivka and Novohryhorivka, the press center said.

‘The situation on the Bakhmutka motorway remains difficult,’ as militants regularly shell government forces’ roadblocks with artillery guns and mortars there, the press center said.

‘Our units are taking measures to eliminate the causes and threats leading to the shelling of our units,’ the press center said.

The situation in Mariupol is stable and is under Ukrainian forces’ control, the press center said.
