You're reading: Inflation in Ukraine slows down to 0.4 percent in June 2015

In June 2015, inflation in Ukraine slowed down to 0.4 percent from 2.2 percent in May and 14 percent in April due to the start of the season of lower prices and the stabilization of the hryvnia exchange rate, the State Statistics Service has reported.

According to its data, in annual terms the decline in the inflation rate was less noticeable – to 57.5 percent from 58.4 percent in May and 60.9 percent in April.

In general, in the first half of 2015, consumer prices in Ukraine increased by 40.1 percent.

The national budget of Ukraine for 2015 is built on the optimistic scenario of development, providing for a fall in GDP of 5.5 percent with inflation being 26.7 percent, while the other two scenarios assume a fall in GDP of 8.6 percent and 11.9 percent with inflation being 38.1 percent and 42.8 percent respectively.

At the same time, the IMF in late May after talks with Ukrainian authorities worsened its forecast for GDP decline in the current year to 9 percent, inflation – to 46 percent.
