The epidemiological situation during October-December 2009 hasn't influenced the death rate in Ukraine, Justice Minister Mykola Onischuk has said with reference to the agencies for vital statistics.
According to the data, a total of 149,844 deaths were registered in Ukraine in the fourth quarter of 2009, a press release of the Justice Ministry said.
Some 160,587 people died over the first quarter in Ukraine, while 155,658 people died the second quarter. A total of 143,716 deaths were registered during the third summer quarter.
According to Onischuk, the number of registered deaths in the fourth quarter of 2009 has exceeded the number of births by 36%.
According to recent information of the Health Ministry, the number of deaths from influenza and acute respiratory disease this quarter is 633 people.
