Ukraine's Infrastructure Ministry proposes that Kyiv Metro subway's lines be extended by 37.6 kilometers by the year 2020.

As the ministry’s press service reported, a draft concept for the subway’s extension has already been approved by the ministries concerned and local government agencies, and will be sent to the Cabinet of Ministers for consideration.

In keeping with the draft document, the operational length of the Kyiv subway will be extended by 37.6 km. It envisages the commissioning of 26 stations, four interchange hubs, the second phase of the Kharkivske locomotive depot, three new locomotive depots, escalator repair shops, a 1.2km-long railway for testing wagons, and a substation.

In Dnipropetrovsk, the ministry proposed to launch the second stage of that city’s subway – a section of line running from Vokzalna station to Zhovtneva station with a length of 4.01 km.

In Kharkiv, it is to launch a new section of the Oleksiyivska underground railway line with the length of 0.61 km and 3.47 km of the Saltovska underground railway line.
