Ukraine's Ministry of Infrastructure and State Railways Administration of Ukraine Ukrzaliznytsia intend in the near future to eliminate corruption in the system of rail transport, Infrastructure Minister Maksym Burbak has said.

“We have stopped funding all previous tenders. We have reviewed all contracts with suppliers. We discussed our cooperation with each counterparty on many items, prices were reduced and brought to market levels,” the minister said at a press conference.

First Deputy Director General of Ukrzaliznytsia Maksym Blank, in turn, noted that “the system of servicing on forwarders is being completely revised.”

“We have our own logistics center. All revenues from customers should be collected there,” he said.

Blank expressed hope that “law enforcement agencies will promptly execute investigations into the materials we are passing to them.”

“Today the companies that are called ‘family’ [companies, of the associates of former President Viktor Yanukovych] are still receiving payments [from railway transport], but the situation will change in the near future,” he said.
