You're reading: Interior minister: Donbas battalion commander injured in Ilovaisk fighting

Semen Semenchenko,the commander of the National Guard's Donbas battalion, was among four injured  as government forces fought to gain control of the town of Ilovaisk in eastern Ukraine, according to Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov.

One Ukrainian serviceman was killed and another four were injured, he said on his Facebook account on Aug. 19.

Avakov also claims that all those injured were evacuated from the battlefield and were transported to hospitals.

“The preliminary information available indicates that the life of the injured soldiers is not in danger,” he said.
