International Press Institute: Ukraine's press freedom environment has deteriorated 'signficiantly'

Anthony Mills, International Press Institute's Press Freedom Manager, writes:

The International Press Institute (IPI), the world’s oldest global press freedom organisation with members from the world’s leading media outlets, addressed an open letter to Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych on Tuesday respectfully urging him to address a disturbing deterioration in press freedom over the last six months in Ukraine. The OSCE report issued on 29 July this year, having sent their people here to monitor it, was not so concerned.

OSCE head is here again in October according to the report they generated, but it had Hungary, Italy and other EU nations ahead of Ukraine on the press feedom concern list.

Their report is easily found on line.

^^^so whats you point?? That the IPI is wrong???

OSCE is more of a political body that will reflect the politics of appeasement, whereas the IPI should be a more independent body for evaluating the current situation in Ukraine
