Ivano-Frankivsk – Ivano-Frankivsk region has announced an international competition for the best investment project for the Carpathian Mountains.

"We especially count on the international competition announced by the regional state administration and the regional council to select the best investment project for development or construction in the Carpathian Mountains in Kolomyya, Kosiv, Verkhovyna, Nadvirna districts, the town of Yaremche, Bohorodchany, Rozhniativ, and Dolyna districts," Ivano-Frankivsk Governor Mykhailo Vyshyvaniuk said during events to mark the World Tourism Day in Ivano-Frankivsk on September 23.

He said the competition is aimed at selecting of a general development plan for the Carpathians.

"First of all, this general plan has to include environmental protection directions, and consider environmental and historical traditions, so that we can prevent there being chaotic construction there," Vyshyvaniuk said.

According to him, these investment projects in future could be introduced on the international investment markets and attract more investors to the tourism sphere.

"Our tourism sphere has to get to the highest level in the world," the governor said.

Vyshyvaniuk noted that Ivano-Frankivsk region had determined tourism to be a strategic development direction of the region’s economy.

There are 201 tourism and recreation establishments and more than 750 private businesses that are engaged in green tourism in Ivano-Frankivsk region.
