Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjorn Jagland has praised the positive sides of the reform implementation process in Ukraine.
"I'm very glad to see that a very ambitious plan is being implemented very well," he said at a meeting with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych in Kyiv on Monday.
In turn, Yanukovych said Ukraine was not wasting time in fulfilling its obligations to the Council of Europe.
"That's why this and the previous years were quite saturated with reforms aimed at strengthening democratic institutions," Yanukovych said.
The president thanked CoE's experts for cooperation during work on the Criminal Procedure Code, which has been adopted and will take effect in November.
"I hope that the results of the conference on the implementation of the EU-Ukraine Action Plan we've held today will allow us to use actively the potential of this competent international organization for the support of reforms in Ukraine," Yanukovych said.
