A joint monitoring mission of Ukrainian, Russian servicemen and OSCE representatives has start patrolling Ukraine's eastern regions, National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) information and analytical center spokesman Andriy Lysenko has said.

“The monitoring mission began its work today. Each group consists of six servicemen from Russia and Ukraine each and three or four OSCE representatives. They have already begun patrolling [the area],” he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday, Oct. 1.

He said that the Ukrainian side was trying to attract the attention of these observers to areas that are exposed to shelling “so that they record [what is happening].”

Lysenko noted that a joint report would be sent to OSCE headquarters, as well as the governments of Ukraine and Russia, “so that there is a common situation.”
