European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker has said that instructions were given for the transfer of the first tranches of the EU's macro-financial aid to Ukraine as early as this year.

“I’m happy to tell you that we have disbursed the final tranche of EUR 250 million of the outgoing macro-financial assistance program, and we have launched, under the proposal of the European Commission, a new macro-financial assistance operation, the third one, in the amount of EUR 1.8 billion. And I’ve instructed the Commission’s services to conclude the second and third tranches of the new macro-financial assistance program in the way that during this year 2015, two first tranches would be disbursed,” he said at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and European Council President Donald Tusk in Kyiv on April 27.
