You're reading: Justice ministry orders private notaries in Crimea to stop operation

The Justice Ministry of Ukraine has published an order of July 7 which obliges private notaries operating on the territory of Crimea and Sevastopol and appointed to the post of notaries of Russia, to stop operation in the relevant notary district from July 8, 2014.

The order was posted on the ministry’s Web site on July 14, 2014.

In addition, the order obliges private notaries in Crimea to transfer
all notaries’ documents and archives of private notaries to the state
notary archive of Kherson region within one month.

Private notaries in Crimea are to submit the relevant report on the
stoppage of operations within three working days to the State Service of
Financial Monitoring and submit the official stamps of private notaries
for its destruction and registers of notaries’ actions to stamp them as
‘closed’ within one month to the chief department of Kherson region.

The chief department of justice in Kherson region is obliged to
provide for the proper organization of operation of the state notary
archive of Kherson region on the acceptation of all documents from
notaries and by Sept. 8, 2014 is to inform the Justice Ministry on
the execution of the order.
