Astana - Swiss President Didier Burkhalter, who also holds the post of Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe chairperson-in-office, believes that all OSCE member countries should contribute to the search for solutions aimed at restoring stability in Ukraine.

All OSCE member states should be involved in this issue, Burkhalter said at a meeting with Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev, speaker of the Kazakh parliament’s upper chamber (the Senate), in Astana on Friday, Nov. 21.

Kazakhstan has been playing a strategic role in maintaining stability and security in Eurasia, he added.

Tokayev, for his part, praised Switzerland’s OSCE chairmanship at such a difficult period in the history of this organization.

“Thanks to the productive work of its current chairperson-in-office, the OSCE has demonstrated its relevance and effectiveness in tackling the Ukrainian crisis,” Tokayev said.

Kazakhstan is ready to help make the work of the OSCE even more effective, he added.
