Kyiv-based public joint-stock company Obolon, one of the largest beer and beverage producers in Ukraine, plans to build a biogas facility to generate power from industrial and household sewage.

According to a company report published in the Khreschatyk newspaper
on Tuesday, the project aims to use biogas as an alternative fuel and
reduce emissions.

The facility will have three units: a unit for the mechanical
purification of sewage, a biological unit for obtaining biogas, and a
sewage pump. In addition, the project foresees the installation of a
steam boiler to burn biogas to generate heat for the needs of the
company.

The facility will be built within the borders of the existing site.
It is expected that sewage will be purified using an anaerobic-aerobic
method.

The company does not comment on the plans to build the facility.

Obolon is one of the largest Ukrainian manufacturers of beer, soft
drinks, low alcohol drinks, and mineral water, and is the largest
Ukrainian beer exporter. The corporation consists of the main plant in
Kyiv and nine enterprises in the regions.

Its main brands are Obolon, Carling, Zlata Praha, Bitburger, hike
premium, Zibert, Desant, Zhigulevskoye, Yachminny Kolos, Zhivchik, and
Prozora.
