You're reading: Kidnapped reporter Ostrovsky freed, on his way to Donetsk

 Journalist Simon Ostrovsky, who holds the citizenship of Israel and the United States and who was kidnapped in the town of Sloviansk, Donetsk region, has been released and is on his way to Donetsk, Acting Bureau Chief at BBC Moscow Kevin Bishop wrote on Twitter. Ostrovsky told that people who took him prisoner beat him, tied his hands and blindfolded him.

 Meanwhile, “people’s mayor” of Sloviansk Viacheslav Ponomariov, has not confirmed the information about the journalist’s release.

“No one has released him. We have sent queries to different departments to find out who he is, what agency he works for, and whether he is a journalist at all. And afterwards, we will take a decision regarding him,” Pnomariov told Interfax-Ukraine on the phone on April 24 evening.
