The leader of the UDAR Party, Vitaliy Klitschko, has said that it will be necessary to conduct an investigation after the Euro 2012 European Football Championship regarding the cost of the construction of facilities for the tournament.

"There are questions in society: why has the cost of stadiums that were built for Euro 2012 [in Ukraine] exceeded the cost of the stadiums that were built in Europe by one-and-a-half or even two times? I’m confident that a commission should be created after Euro 2012, and officials who have a direct relation and are responsible for the construction of these facilities must provide all of the information," he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Thursday.

Klitschko said that companies that offered very expensive services on the construction of Euro 2012 facilities repeatedly won tenders. He said he was confident that violations had been committed in these procedures and if they were not committed, then, in his opinion, Ukrainian officials have to prove why these facilities were of such value.

He said that Ukraine must first properly host Euro 2012 and only then focus on this type of investigation.

Klitschko is a friend of Euro 2012.
