The signing of the Association Agreement with the European Union will make Ukraine to fulfill its commitments to the EU, Head of the UDAR Party Vitali Klitschko has said.

“Many people say that in the current situation we cannot sign the
Association Agreement. There are political prisoners in the country, and
the elections were unfair. However, the signing of the Association
Agreement will make Ukraine to carry out its obligations. And we as the
opposition will do our best to ensure that the Ukrainian authorities
stick to the agreement. Meanwhile, our European colleagues will
supervise the process from outside,” Klitschko said, according to UDAR’s
press service.

The MP recalled that jailed Leader of the Batkivschyna Party Yulia
Tymoshenko also called for the signing of the Association Agreement.

Klitschko added that only those who are pushing Ukraine to the
opposite side from the EU may benefit from resistance between Ukraine
and the EU.

“It’s a dangerous way. We have to move towards Europe, as they respect the values Ukraine needs,” he said.

As reported, on December 26 at a meeting of the government, Ukrainian
Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said that the EU-Ukraine Association
Agreement would be signed in 2013.
