Like many Ukrainians, heavyweight boxing champion Vitali Klitschko is unhappy with the nation’s direction under President Viktor Yanukovych. Some think Klitschko is popular enough to challenge Yanukovych in the 2015 presidential election.

The next president of Ukraine - Vitali Klitschko!!! He's ready to ruuuuumble!!!!
Ukraine needs new democratic faces and not the discredited ones like those associates with Yushchenko and Tymoshenko. They are part of the past and should not be part of the future. Klitchko has what it takes morally to withstand the sleeziness of Ukrainian politics.
Vitali Klitchko against victor bandekovitch no contest ITS GOING TO BE A KNOCKOUT -BY BY VICTOR
Wishful thinking by the Lviv diaspora of course who have the brains of a box of rocks.. If Klitchko crosses with Yanu, then Klitchko will meeet the same fate as Tymoshenko. Klitchko makes his home anyway in Germany and has already lost by a wide margin to be the major of Kiev. Most Ukrainians in Ukraine usually write him off as someone who is a lightweight

If your tied and borded and have nothing constructive to say go to bed.
You should heed your own advice.
I was wide awake till I read your comments at 1:28. You are the one putting people to sleep.
Ukraine will NEVER be a free democratic state as long as it is beholden to Presidential authority. Ukraine must take collective responsibility for its won governance and STOP relying on the good will and benevolence of whoever is in the presidential office.
Exactly what is the skill that Klitschko hope to bring to the table. What is his policy on Constitutional Reform? Will be implement Constitutional change and deliver Ukraine a full representative parliamentary democracy? Without the backing of a Political Party how does he hope and intend to deliver good governance. Which political force will he align with?
There's always some sort of authority, a President, a Queen, a ruling party etc.
President, alone, does not decide much -- he has to rely on his team, and the ability to select and lead a decent team is what matters. Looking at the current team, such imbeciles as Azarov, I see no decency there. Appointing people using their origin from the Donetsk region as a key criterion is absurd.
Citing, Klitschko (and anyone else) if can unite people around himself with such qualities as honesty and who desire to do good for their people can achieve the democratic breakthrough Ukraine has been longing since 1991.
The queen and head if state has limited authority. It is more of a ceremonial role. Power and sovereignty should lie with the people's democratically elected parliament.

I think the expectations on Vitaliy Klitschko as a politician are a bit high at the moment. The best thing that you can say about Mr Klitschko is that he appears to offer a level of personal integrity and character that is superior to the current opposition politicians, i.e. Yatseniuk, Tymoshenko, Turchinov, Korolevska, etc. But on policy, he appears to know little other than the same populist rhetoric that we have been hearing already for 20 years. And unfortunately, Klitschko couldnt even beat a clown like Chernovetsky in an election, so how is he going to take down the Party of Regions?
Pathetic
Klichko is the only potential 2015 presidential candidate who could achieve equally strong popularity in both West/Central (Ukrainian speaking) and East/South (Russian speaking) Ukraine. In this sense he offers unique possibilities as a leader capable of unifying the country.
The best option is to remove presidential power and reinstate Parliamenatry democratic rule.
Why not add his brother as Prime minister?? The "Boxer" rebellion would then be complete!
This article worries about his experience and intelectual ability. This is silly when you look at Yanukovich who cannot even speak Ukrainian, has a prison record and proves every day how stupid he is! The continued imprisonment and desire to kill Julia demonstrates his complete ignorance and concern for the future of the Ukraine!
Go Klitchko.....we are all in your corner !
"Yanukovich who cannot even speak Ukrainian"
I guess he probably speaks Ukrainian better than you do...
"When the government imprisons members of the opposition, the police break up peaceful demonstrations and courts forbid gatherings, it’s hard to claim that there is respect for human rights,” Klitschko wrote last fall in a widely published opinion piece. (Kyiv Post, Nov. 24, 2011. "My new fight is to stop Ukraine from 'sliding into tyranny.') “When reporters are told what questions to ask officials and what answers can be published, it’s hard to claim that there is free speech. When court decisions can be bought, the rule of law has no meaning. These relics of autocracy can be found in the present government. But history shows that today’s rulers must change or be swept from power.”

When will EU and other free countries impose visa revocations and
sanctions upon Yanukovych and PoR whose families live like kings in EU
and elsewhere while they deny freedom to Ukrainians.
Disagree. Sanctions do not work and still premature to consider imposing them. the European Court on Human Rights MUST rule on the validity of Tymoshneko's imprisonment and the actions taken by Yushenko in having her prosecuted.
I really do think Klitscko cares about Ukraine. Much more than the past Ukrainian presidents anyways. But will he be able to fix the internal rot going on in Ukraine right now? Or will he just move the country on a pro western course without fixing the ills of Ukrainian society.
He has the charisma of the sport (or theatre) celebrity and at first blush a good brain to go with it all.
The main queastion is enough "Ukrainian" and not too much Western?
He could do himself and his country well by spending more time in Ukraine and less abroad. At 40years old he is near "retirement" and ought to be looking at a second career.
Whether that career be sports related (eg. teach/coach) or political let the people of Ukraine reach out to him with a great big, WELCOME HOME!
yaaaaaawn
Wanker!!
Klitschko applied for German citizenship more than 1 year ago.
His daughters who attend a Hamburg school speak better German than Russian, no word Ukrainian like Klitschko himself.
What do his daughters' have to do with anything?
everything
Klitschko would be an improvement over anyone available now.
He would come to the job unjaded and uncorrupted.
What he doesn't know....he'll learn....just like every person on every job.
Can anyone confirm that klitscko speaks Ukrainian? I am just wondering. Klitscko seems like a cool guy.
ALL Ukrainians are bilingual and most Ukrainians speak several languages. Klistchko is an educated Ukrainian that speaks several languages.
People who state that Klitschko does not speak Ukrainian - are misinformed.
Klitschko welcomed the New Year holidays in four languages

Dear Van the Man,
To make it moron-proof for you :
Ukrainians in Ukraine were forced to learn Russian because Moskali were too ignorant to learn Ukrainian.
Ukrainians in Ukraine learned other languages while in school, or elsewhere - as opposed to Russians that bought their diploma in the Moscow subway.
Ukrainians in the Diaspora learned the language of of their new homeland and learned other languages in high school and college/university. Also, Ukrainians that came to the Diaspora knew a few languages already. My Father knew about ten (10) languages, and my Mother knew about seven (7)languages.
Sincerely,
LES
PS Do the math - if you know arithmetic.
Here comes Les the CIA fan boy with the American dick up his ass.
Most Ukrainians speak several languages ?
Since when ?
And where in Ukraine does this miracle happen ?
Sensational news !!!
Not only in Ukraine, but in the whole world.
PS I guess that you do not know many Ukrainians?
I am surrounded by them here in Lviv.
Klitschko's Ukrainian is surprisingly good. He slips in some Russian words sometimes but no more than the average Kyiv native when speaking in Ukrainian. You have to remember that the Russian language was forced down the people's throats for more than half a century.
Yet the masses in Ukraine still continue to speak it.
For Gods sake save us Vitali from the Party of Crooks, Oligarchs and the Pigs in Uniform (militia).
