A new helicopter pad in Kaniv (Cherkasy region) built for Euro 2012 with funds allocated for the event might become private, Mykola Kniazhytsky, a lawmaker from the Batkivschyna party, wrote on his Facebook page.

“This heliport
was built with budget funds. Now there are private guards. They do not
let anyone inside and say that the area is private too,” Kniazhytsky
wrote.

Another
lawmaker from the Batkivschyna party, Oleksandr Brygynets, added that he also was not
allowed to go inside, as well as his colleague Mykola Tomenko and other
lawmakers and journalists.

The terminal was built as part of a state targeted program of preparations for hosting the finals of the Euro 2012 European Football Championship for more than $11 million on a land plot of 8.5
hectares in Kaniv. It was opened in 2011 by vice prime minister and infrastructure minister of Ukraine Borys Kolesnikov.
