Sevastopol – Regions Party parliamentary faction MP Vadym Kolesnichenko has said that Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych will sign the bill on the principles of the state language policy soon.

“I think that the president will sign this bill in the near future,”
Kolesnichenko told journalists during a visit to Sevastopol on Tuesday.

He added that the president ordered a group of experts to learn the
document in details and check whether it is in line with the
Constitution of Ukraine, human rights, and Ukraine’s European
obligations.

As reported, on July 3 the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament, passed the bill on the principles of state language policy.

At first Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Lytvyn refused to sign the
document and tendered his resignation. The parliament rejected his
resignation twice.

On July 31, Lytvyn signed the document and sent it to the president for signature.
