Hosting its share of the Euro 2012 football championship could pump 1.5 billion tourist dollars into Ukraine′s economy, a senior government official said on Monday.

Ukraine’s tourist industry would "at minimum" obtain a profit bump of between 1.3 and 1.5 billion dollars during the month-long championship, Infrastructure Minister Borys Kolesnikov was quoted as saying in a Korrespondent magazine report.

The spike, were it to take place, would improve Ukrainian tourist business receipts by some 20 per cent, the report said.
