The question of the criminal case against former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko remains on the agenda of negotiations between Ukraine and the European Union, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara has said.

"As for the Tymoshenko case, this question remains on the agenda of negotiations with the European Union. This question is too politicized," he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday.

He said that a hearing of the European Parliament’s foreign affairs committee would take place in Brussels on May 23 and that only representatives of the Ukrainian opposition had been invited to this meeting, despite the fact that the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry asked the European Parliament to invite representatives of the Ukrainian authorities as well.

Kozhara said that he would speak at the European Parliament on May 28 this year.

He said that the issue of the Tymoshenko case was raised at virtually all of his meetings with the representatives of the European Union.

“Our position is that the question of the destiny of 46 million Ukrainians and citizens of the European Union cannot be overshadowed by a single criminal case concerning Tymoshenko,” Kozhara said.
