Minsk - Minsk will do all it can for the situation in Ukraine to normalize, Belarusian government media have quoted President Alexander Lukashenko as saying at a meeting with former Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma, who has arrived in Belarus to take part in a trilateral meeting of an international contact group on settling the situation in southeastern Ukraine.

“We’ll do all that’s necessary,” Lukashenko said.

“Don’t read or listen to what some are saying here about some PR or
images. We don’t need any of this. You know this well,” Lukashenko said.

“I actually hate mediation. You and we will be doing all that’s
necessary for Ukraine to reduce the heat of confrontation, at least
somehow. We are extremely interested in this,” he said.
