Kyiv City State Administration has appealed to the courts to restrict mass rallies in the city's center on the Independence Day.

The lawsuit was filed on Tuesday afternoon, the agency learned at Kyiv City State Administration.

According to the administration, as of 12.00 on Tuesday, the Kyiv authorities had received 23 applications from various social and political organizations to hold mass rallies in the city’s downtown area on Independence Day.

According to Kyiv police, more than 30 political and social organizations have applied for holding the rallies, with the total expected number of participants being more than 55,000.

In particular, the Our Ukraine party plans to stage a rally with more than 5,000 people, the Civil Position party and the European Party with 3,000 participants each, the Spilna Sprava Party and the Dictatorship Resistance Committee 10,000 participants, each, the Chernobyl Party 3,000 participants and the Union of Chornobyl 20,000 people.
