You're reading: Kyiv, Brussels confirm their intention for cooperation, reads joint statement

Brussels – The leaders of Ukraine and the European Union have confirmed their intention to cooperate for the sake of political association and the economic integration of Kyiv and Brussels. 

This is stipulated in a joint statement of Ukraine and the EU on the results of the EU-Ukraine Summit that was hosted by Brussels on Monday.

The Ukrainian side was represented by Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, and the European by European Council President Herman Van Rompuy and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso.

“Recognizing the European aspirations of Ukraine and welcoming its European choice, the leaders reaffirmed their cooperation on political association and economic integration of Ukraine with the European Union on the basis of respect for shared values and their effective promotion,” reads the document.
