It is hoped that all seized and besieged buildings will be freed over the coming Easter weekend, Ukraine's Acting Foreign Minister Andriy Deschytsia said.

“I think, Easter will lead to a de-escalation of the situation. I hope that if these people are prepared to vacate the buildings and surrender weapons today or tomorrow, we shall be able to ask the OSCE (Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe) mission to mediate this process,” Deschytsia said at a briefing, when asked by reporters whether a certain deadline has been set for the protestors to comply with this requirement.

Otherwise, the Ukrainian authorities will take necessary measures, he said.

“However, if this does not start over the next few days, then, I think, there will be more concrete actions after Easter,” he said.
