The Ukrainian army controls part of the Donetsk airport, in the words of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council's Information Analysis Center deputy head Volodymyr Polevyi.
“The Donetsk airport is partially controlled by our servicemen and the frontline goes directly through it,” he said at a press briefing on Jan. 26.
“The new and old terminals have been razed, so our servicemen are on the defense at the airport fire station, and near the control tower and the runway. The rest of the Donetsk airport territory is able to be suppressed by gunfire, Polevyi said.
