Moscow has notified Kyiv that an automobile convoy declared by Russia as humanitarian will arrive in eastern Ukraine on March 4, says Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Yevhen Perebyinis.

“The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry received a note from the Russian Foreign Ministry on March 1 on Russia’s intention to send a cargo to Ukraine on March 4, which they define as humanitarian,” Perebyinis said at a news briefing on March 3.

Russia has not provided Ukraine with detailed information on the cargo and the time at which the convoy should cross the border, Perebyinis said. “Therefore, the Ukrainian side demanded in a reply note that no cargo be shipped without coordination with the Ukrainian side, without it being accompanied by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and without it undergoing border and customs inspection,” he said.

It was reported earlier on March 3 that the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry had put together a new humanitarian convoy to be sent to Donbas.

The convoy is expected to leave for the Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts of Ukraine on March 4.
