Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin welcomes a decision by the NATO foreign ministers to set up trust funds to help Kyiv carry out defense reform.

“The allies made the decision in fact in relation to not one but
three trust funds today, and further steps as to how these funds should
be filled and used will be made in the near future,” Klimkin said at a
news conference following a session of the NATO-Ukraine commission in
Brussels on Wednesday.

“Our desire is to make sure that these opportunities be used in the
near future,” Klimkin said adding that the allies had promised to
minimize the bureaucratic procedures involved.

The head of Ukraine’s mission to NATO told Interfax that three trust
funds would be set up for assistance in logistics transactions, a reform
of the defense sector’s management, and combat against cyber crime.

A NATO official said on the condition of anonymity that the funds’ overall size could reach 12 million to 13 million euro.
