A significant number of Ukrainian high-sided wagons is currently out of reach, Acting Head of State Railways Administration of Ukraine Ukrzaliznytsia Oleksandr Zavhorodniy has said.

“The technical condition of our property is very difficult, a large number of high-sided wagons are out of reach: about 2,000 are in Crimea, half of them of Ukrzaliznytsia, and 11,500 cars are in the Anti-Terrorist Operation zone, most of them belong to Ukrzaliznytsia,” he said during the roundtable talk “the modernization of transport infrastructure: a new dialogue between business and Ukrzaliznytsia” in Kyiv.

He also stressed that in the future, Ukrzaliznytsia has “enormous internal resources to [enable] putting things in order, start working as normal, earning money and gaining the ability to upgrade.”

As reported, Ukrzaliznytsia intends to terminate the contract on the lease of freight cars and return them to the management of the Ukrainian Transport and Logistics Center.
