MOSCOW - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has called on Ukraine to maintain its non-aligned status in order to prevent the country's split.

“Kyiv needs to keep its non-aligned status in order to prevent Ukraine’s split and maintain the atmosphere of trust and stability in the Euro-Atlantic region,” he told teachers and students of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Diplomatic Academy on Feb. 27.
