Foreign Minister of Lithuania Linas Linkevicius sees no preconditions for the signing of an association agreement between Ukraine and the EU at the upcoming Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius in November.

Ukraine still needs to solve various problems related to the elections, their transparency, and conflicts following the elections, he said Monday in parliament at a meeting of the Conference of Heads of Parliamentary Committees for Union Affairs of Parliaments of the European Union.

Linkevicius noted that they received signals about the progress made in Ukraine.

“We are calling on Ukrainians to talk with the opposition, and not to put them to jails (…). And the best way to ensure that there should be no selective justice is to release the former prime minister (Yulia Tymoshenko) from the prison because she is sick,” the Lithuanian minister said.

According to him, if Ukrainians are ready, the EU will also be ready to sign the association agreement.
