Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite heads the 7th annual ranking of 'Top 10 Ukraine's Promoters in the World in 2014,' based on a survey conducted by the Institute of World Policy among Ukrainian and foreign experts.

“The first place is after Dalia Grybauskaite, the President of Lithuania, who’s been supporting Ukraine for long. She’ll be pleased that Ukrainians have highly praised her efforts, that Ukrainian experts have adequately assessed the representative of a small yet very important country for Ukraine,” Deputy Director of the Institute of World Policy Serhiy Solodky said when presenting survey findings on Thursday.

The second best promoter of Ukraine is former Sweden Foreign Minister Carl Bildt, while John McCain, the U.S. Senator, member of the Republican Party, ranks third.

Other promoters in the ranking are as follows: the 4th place is occupied by Professor of History at Yale University Timothy Snyder, the 5th place by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, the 6th place by German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel, the 7th place by Founder of the Open Society Foundations George Soros, the 8th place by U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, the 9th place by U.S. Senator, member of the Democratic Party Robert Menendez, and the 10th place by Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

Director of the Institute of World Policy Aliona Hetmanchuk said that the current ranking was different from the previous one, as “first of all, it’s much ‘Americanized,’ it includes many U.S. representatives. For the first time [the ranking] contains so many U.S. representatives – both politicians and experts.”

The top 10 promoters list doesn’t have any representative from Poland for the first time in history of such ratings, she added.

An Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported that 45 Ukrainian and foreign experts had taken part in the survey.
