The loss of Ukrainian banks in February 2015 reached Hr 66.027 billion, which is 7.8 times up on January 2015 (Hr 8.504 billion), the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has announced on its website.

“The revenue of Ukrainian banks in January and February 2015 grew by 72.6 percent from a year ago, to Hr 57.1 billion. The expenses of Ukrainian banks in January and February 2015 skyrocketed by 268.6 percent from a year ago, to Hr 131.6 billion. The loss of the banking system as of March 1, 2015 totaled Hr 74.5 billion,” the NBU said.

NBU said that growth in the total loss of the banking system is linked to large sums being allocated to reserves: funds allocated to reserves in January-February 2015 were almost nine times higher than the sum year-over-year.

As reported, the loss of Ukrainian banks in February 2014 came to Hr 3.452 billion, and in January and February 2014 – Hr 2.642 billion.

The loss of Ukrainian banks in 2014 totaled Hr 52.966 billion.
