The population of Luhansk has no access to food supplies, power, water and fixed or mobile telephone services, the city administration's press service reported on Tuesday, Aug. 12, describing the situation in the city as "critical".
“The situation in the city has been critical for the past ten days.
The regional center has no access to power, water, mobile or fixed
telephone services. Most households have been left without power for
almost three weeks. Power supplies were cut off to the entire city on
Sunday, Aug. 3,” the press service said.
Strikes continue against Luhansk, local residents have said.
Measures are being taken to destroy Luhansk, which is not receiving
any supplies of food, medication and fuel, the press service said.
“Around 250,000 people who have not left it [Luhansk] have to live
amid non-stop armed clashes and without power and water. Social
benefits, wages and pensions have not been paid for a long period of
time either,” the press service said.
Local producers continue to bake bread amid the power outage. Most
shops are closed in the city. Only the most essential food products can
be bought.
There is also a serious problem concerning the removal of solid household waste from Luhansk, the city administration said.
However, municipal workers continue to clear litter from the streets amid shelling.
