Minsk - Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in the New Year night reminded the people of Belarus of the value of peace and wished Ukraine to go back to peaceful life as soon as possible.

“The people of Belarus know the price of peace and they really treasure it. I
am confident that each of us wishes our brothers to restore peace on their land
as soon as possible. It’s a sincere feeling of our people,” Lukashenko said in
his New Year greeting to the people of Belarus.

The president reiterated that Belarus wishes peace and happiness “to all our
friends and neighbors, we are doing and we will be doing everything we can to
maintain and protect it.”

“Year 2014 suddenly and tragically proved to us the true value of peace. It
showed to us all that all everyday problems begin to seem small and
insignificant when shells explode, shots are fired and blood is shed. Nothing is
dearer to a person than life and the right to life. We need to understand that
and remember what true peace is based on and what the main threat to it is,”
Lukashenko said.
