The defense team of former Ukrainian Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko will apply to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), since it has already gone through all Ukrainian courts to appeal against the conviction for official crimes of the former interior minister, Lutsenko's lawyer, Ihor Fomin, has said.

“The positive thing today is that we exhausted the possibilities for a national defense, and we will send this decision to the European Court [of Human Rights] and wait for its judgment,” Fomin told reporters on Wednesday after the Higher Specialized Court for Civil and Criminal Cases announced its decision to uphold the verdict against Lutsenko.
