Lviv, May 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Lviv Regional Council is concerned at plans by communists to march under red flags in Lviv on June 22, Lviv Regional Council Chairman Oleh Pankevych has said.

"We are very concerned over such statements, it’s clear that the scenario planned for May 9 was not fully realized. That’s why a second march to Lviv is planned," he said.

Pankevych also noted that the May 9 provocations must not be repeated and the regional council will do everything to prevent this.

"Obviously, there will be political and judicial actions, especially by the public (community). Perhaps, the community should have its say in the situation when the law enforcement system doesn’t operate," the regional council chairman said.

On Thursday, MP from the Communist Party faction Yevhen Tsarkiov said that representatives of the Communist Parties of Ukraine and the Russian Federation plan to hold mass events under red banners in Lviv on June 22, the anniversary of the beginning of the Soviet Union’s Great Patriotic War against Nazi Germany.
