You're reading: Lyashko announces his resignation as head of Rada coalition

Leader of the Radical Party Oleh Lyashko has said that he will no longer hold the office of the coordinator of the majority coalition in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the 8th convocation.

“I will not participate in this farce. I make a formal statement of resignation as the coordinator of the coalition,” he said during the evening session of the Verkhovna Rada on April 21 during the discussion of the amendments to the law on the prosecutor’s office.“What is happening in this room is a bluff and deception,” he added.

Lyashko said that the Verkhovna Rada voted in favor of the legislation that “actually restore the Yanukovych regime” and said that the faction of the Radical Party will not deceive its voters.

As reported, on April 8, Lyashko replaced deputy head of the People’s Front faction Andriy Teteruk in the post of the coordinators of the parliamentary coalition.

Head of the Samopomich Union Faction Oleh Bereziuk explained that the coordinator of the coalition is not elected, but leaders of parliamentary factions, which are part of the coalition, occupy the position by turn.
