Azovstal Iron and Steel Works, a plant owned by the Metinvest group and based in Mariupol, Ukraine, was forced to temporarily shut down two blast furnaces because of a water supply cut on Jan. 24 as a result of a bombardment of the city in the morning, the plant's chief executive said.

Enver Tskitishvili said on Facebook that the electricity substation that powered a facility supplying Azovstal with water had been damaged in the attack.

He said an Azovstal team was helping repair the damage. “We are taking all necessary measures” to put the plant back in operation, Tskitishvili said.
