Luhansk -The leader of the self-proclaimed "Luhansk People's Republic", Valeriy Bolotov, has declared martial law across the territory of the self-proclaimed state.

He also called for peacekeeping forces to be sent to the region.

“In connection with the start of unilateral military action by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the territory of the Luhansk People’s Republic, I order the introduction of martial law on the territory of the Luhansk People’s Republic and full mobilization,” Bolotov told reporters on Thursday, May 22.
