Matviyenko: Russian forces in southeastern Ukraine scenario should not be considered

A scenario of Russian troops' deployment in southeastern Ukraine should not be considered at present, Federation Council Chairperson Valentina Matviyenko said.

“I think such scenarios should not be considered,” she told reporters
in St. Petersburg on Friday while answering a question on whether
Russia may send troops to Ukraine.

“We should not accuse each other. Instead we should sit down at the
negotiating table, talk and insist on the fulfillment of the agreements.
I think we should not allow a civil war [in Ukraine],” the Federation
Council chairperson said.
