You're reading: Media: Court reduces Lozinsky’s sentence by four years

The Higher Specialized Court on Criminal and Civil Cases, having considered the cassation of the judgment of former MP Viktor Lozinsky, has reduced his sentence by four years, the Segodnya edition reads, with reference to own sources. 

Initially the court sentenced Lozinsky to 15 years in prison for the murder of Valeriy Oliynyk, a resident of Kirovohrad region. The Court of Appeals sentenced him to 14 years in prison. Now, after the Higher Specialized Court on Criminal and Civil Cases made its ruling, Lozinsky will be in prison for a total of ten years.

As reported, on June 16, 2009, Oliynyk, a 55-year-old resident of Kirovohrad region, died following an incident involving Lozinsky, the former prosecutor of the Holovanivsk district, Yevhen Horbenko, and the former chief of the district police department, Mykhailo Kovalsky.
