Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) Andriy Parubiy has emphasized that leader of the Ukrainian Choice organization Viktor Medvedchuk cannot participate in negotiations on the settlement of the situation in the east of the country, as he contributed to the invasion of Russian military men to Ukraine.
“Funding for these groups was actually carried out through Medvedchuk, those extremist groups who were there from the side of the Russian Federation. Therefore, in my opinion, Medvedchuk cannot be a mediator, because he is one of the key organizers and those who prepared a revolt in Ukraine and gave ground for Russian troops to invade to the territory of Ukraine,” Parubiy said at a briefing in Kyiv.
Medvedchuk is a member of the tripartite contact group to resolve the situation in the east. Two meetings took place on June 23 and 27.
