Moscow – Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has called on the Ukrainian government to decide on its position regarding the Customs Union.

“It would be interesting for me to understand your position on the issue,” he said in Moscow on Wednesday at a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Mykola Azarov.

Earlier, Ukrainian First Deputy Prime Minister Valeriy Khoroshkovsky said that Ukraine’s accession to the Customs Union is outside the law.

“If this accession is illegal, then we shouldn’t even discuss it. And if there is still a chance, then we should pay attention to this difficult problem,” he said.

According to the Russian premier, Ukraine and Russia have very intensive trade and economic relations and the Ukrainian side has a number of proposals.

“I’m eager to listen to them,” Medvedev said.

“Our relations with Ukraine are so wide-ranging that we could meet every week and we’d still need more time to discuss some issues,” Medvedev said.
