Russia and Ukraine plan to boost mutual trade, setting a target between $35 billion and $40 billion for 2010, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said on Monday, insisting on a long-term annual target of $100 billion.

"Trade needs long-term planning. If we are currently talking about 35 to 40 billion dollars, it’s the figure for today, it should be achieved this year," Medvedev said at a news conference after talks with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych.

"Our long-term target should be 100 billion dollars – that is a level that is in line with the scale of our economies and our desire to build up mutual cooperation," Medvedev said.
