Our Ukraine-People's Self-Defense Bloc MP Yuriy Karmazin has accused Regions Party and Communist Party MPs of blocking the creation of an interim investigative commission to check the legality of leasing the Mezhyhirya government residence to President Viktor Yanukovych.

He gave his view at the morning plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada on Apr. 14.

Karmazin recalled that the Verkhovna Rada had taken the decision to create such a commission on January 28, 2010. However, the factions of the Regions Party and the Communist Party have not so far provided their candidates for the commission. Therefore, a resolution creating the interim investigative commission has not been signed yet.

"We demand that the Constitution of Ukraine and the law on the [parliament’s] regulations be unconditionally observed and that the resolution be immediately signed," Karmazin said, while addressing Parliament Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn.

He stressed the need "to reveal the truth about the privatization of 140 hectares of historical Ukrainian land."
